Did you know that Paraguay was the center of the war of the War Triple Alliance. In the battle they lost over half of the adult male population. In 1932-35 Chaco, a very substantial economical part of Paraguay, was acquired by Bolivia. Alfredo Stressner was the dictator of Paraguay 1954 to 1982. After 35-year military dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner his dictatorship was demolished by Andres Rodriguez in 1989. Alfredo was continuesly supported by the U.S.. Since then Paraguay has always had election.
